The Philippine Department of Science and Technology – Food and Nutrition Research Institute recommends the intake of 20-25 grams of fiber each day, while the American Diatetic Association recommends about 20-35g for healthy adults. This is because a diet with adequate amounts of fiber is rich in micronutrients and can have a significant impact in the prevention of obesity, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes as well as constipation.
Not all fibers are the same. C-Lium Fibre is considered the "Rolls Royce of fibers". By comparison, one teaspoon of C-Lium Fibre is equivalent to 14 tablespoons of soluble fiber from oats and cereals. C-Lium Fibre swells fifty times its size when in liquid. C-Lium Fibre is 100% plant material, with no additives, no preservatives and is gluten free.
C-Lium Fibre is available at Mercury Drug and other leading drugstores.
Stir one heap tablespoon or one sachet into a half glass of water or your preferred beverage and drink immediately. It is normal for C-lium to not dissolve completely. Drink an extra glass of fluid soon after. Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Take once a day ideally in the morning. For maximum fat absorption benefit take 30 minutes before meals. Maximum dosage: two sachets.
You can also mix C-Lium Fibre with your breakfast cereal and oatmeal as it suits your taste.
Take 5 capsules twice a day with liquid. Drink an extra glass of fluid soon after.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day. For best results take a total of 10 capsules daily (equal to 5 grams of dietary fiber). Add more capsules to suit individual metabolism and fiber needs
Regular daily intake is recommended. C-lium should be consumed everyday as part of a healthy and well-balanced diet.
Interactions with Drugs
Psyllium-containing products may delay gastric emptying time and reduce the absorption of some drugs. It is advised that drugs be taken at separate administration times from psyllium to minimize potential interactions (for example, two hours before or a few hours after taking psyllium). Although no effect on warfarin levels with co-administration of psyllium was reported in one study, administration of these agents should be separated until better research is available. Due to potential reductions in blood sugar levels caused by psyllium, requirements for insulin or other diabetes drugs in diabetic patients may be reduced. Blood glucose levels should be closely monitored, and dosing adjustments may be necessary. Other drugs may be affected by psyllium like anticoagulants, antidepressants, anti-gout agents, anti-inflammatory agents, diuretics, salicylates, tetracyclines, nitrofurantoin, insulin, lithium and digoxin. People should discuss these matters with their physicians before taking psyllium.
Interactions with Herbs and Dietary Supplements
Psyllium-containing products may delay gastric emptying time and reduce the absorption of some herbs, supplements, vitamins, or minerals. Absorption of calcium, iron, zinc, and vitamin B12 may also be affected. Other agents should be taken one hour before or a few hours after psyllium to avoid potential interactions. Psyllium should be used cautiously with other laxatives, such as senna, because effects may be increased. Psyllium and chitosan together may increase fat excretion in the stool. Theoretically, psyllium may reduce the absorption of anticoagulant herbs and supplements. However, no effect on warfarin levels by co-administered psyllium was found. Taking psyllium with herbs and supplements that alter blood sugar may increase the risk of hypoglycemia (lowered blood sugar). People using other herbs or supplements that may alter blood sugar levels, such as bitter melon ( Momordica charantia ), should be monitored closely by their physician while using psyllium. Dosing adjustments may be necessary. Psyllium may interact with herbs and supplements with antidepressant, anti-gout, anti-inflammatory, and diuretic activities.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if you remember the missed dose when it is time for your next scheduled dose, take only one dose. Do not take a double dose.
C-Lium Fibre is very safe, and is used by millions of people throughout the world. Psyllium husks have been used in Europe since the 16th century and in southern Asia for centuries as part of ayurvedic medicine. C-Lium Fibre is not habit-forming and can be taken every day.
C-Lium Fibre has no harmful side effects. It is registered as safe by the Food and Drug Administrations in many countries including ours.
Yes, Psyllium-containing laxatives are considered class C-2 drugs in pregnancy, meaning that they appear to be safe in all three trimesters, although studies in pregnant humans and animals have not been done. Psyllium-containing products are considered class 1 (apparently safe) during breastfeeding. However, consult your obstetrician/gynecologists for the best use of C-lium Fibre.
Constipation is a common complaint among senior citizens. As the body ages, the efficiency of the digestive system also declines. Reduced mobility also compounds the problem. Elderly people, as well as those convalescing from sickness, can find relief from increased fiber intake. Fiber supplements such as C-Lium Fibre make it easy to add high quality dietary fiber to one's daily diet, resulting in better digestion, elimination, and overall health.
Diabetes is a condition in which the body cannot use glucose (blood sugar) properly because there is low production of insulin. C-lium Fibre aids in lowering blood sugar levels. It slows down the digestion rate to gradually release glucose much like a time release mechanism. The slower the digestion of carbohydrates, the slower the increase in blood sugar, the less insulin is needed and therefore, the result is a gradual drop in blood sugar levels.
Yes, C-lium helps ease discomfort by absorbing a lot of acids and allowing your body the time and opportunity to heal itself.
C-lium promotes a healthy digestive system by eliminating constipation, promoting regular bowel movement, and assisting in waste and toxin removal. C-lium acts as a sponge in the intestinal tract, swelling as it absorbs water, fats, and waste material in bowels. This forms a soft, bulky mass that passes through the colon more quickly (keeping potentialy toxic waste from staying in the colon, as well as evacuating these more smoothly and easily).
Yes. Children often suffer from constipation due to un-balanced diets and formula milk. The dose for children should be half the adult dose: one teaspoon (half a sachet) or 5 capsules daily with sufficient intake of water throughout the day or as advised by your pediatrician.
No. In fact C-Lium Fibre can be used to lessen the embarrassing fatty diarrhea of popular anti-obesity agents. It can and will regularize bowel movements.
Yes. Due to its effect on blood cholesterol levels, less excess fat gets stored in the body. This change is a gradual process that requires regular intake for 8 weeks or 2 months or more depending on the degree of obesity. Also, when taken at least 30 minutes before meals, C-lium helps prevent hunger pangs by making you feel full longer.
C-Lium Fibre is a natural fat absorber that helps remove LDL "bad" cholesterol from the body while sparing HDL "good" cholesterol.
The body metabolizes cholesterol to synthesize bile acids for fatty food digestion. The psyllium husk soluble fibers in C-Lium Fibre binds with cholesterol in the bile acids and dietary cholesterol, which are then excreted in the stool. This continuous process helps lower blood cholesterol, which in turn reduces the risk of heart disease.
The American Heart Association, together with the USFDA, have allowed food manufacturers who add psyllium husk to their product (the ONLY ingredient in C-Lium Fibre) to make the following statement of claim: "Eating soluble fiber from foods such as psyllium husks as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, together with regular exercise, may reduce the risk of heart disease."
Yes. C-lium Fibre can be taken with any liquid beverage such as juice, water, tea or softdrink. It does not affect the taste of your drink. However you have to add C-lium husk immediately to your beverage, stir vigorously and drink immediately to avoid caking. It is normal for C-lium not to dissolve completely. Drink a glass of water soon after and be sure to keep yourself hydrated throughout the day (i.e. Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water a day when taking C-lium).
